「北神伝奇」、「木島日記」に続く大塚英志・作、森夏美・画の伝奇三部作、「八雲百怪」２巻がもう発売されてました。史実と創作の境目を読み解ける程の知識は私にはないのですが、毎回奇抜なストーリーと美しい絵で楽しませてくれます。

「舞姫」がベースになっているエピソードが、自分が捨てた女性に未練を見せる優柔不断な森鴎外を描いていておもしろいです。

comic book "Yakumo Hyakkai", written by Eiji Otsuka and Illustrated by Yoshinatsu Mori is out now. The main character in the story is "Yakumo Koizumi", who really was around in Meiji Japan. He was originally a Scotish, who decided to live in Japan to collect indigenous ghost stories. The comic book is not necessarily historically accurate but delivered with imagination and a pinch of bitter humor.
